Welcome To Madron Parish Website

This website is provided by Madron Parish Council for the benefit of the community.

Madron (Cornish Eglos Madern), is both a civil parish and a village in west Cornwall, situated to the north west of Penzance.

The village is the active centre of the parish community, set in a rural landscape and with agriculture as the main economy of the surrounding area.

The village and parish are both named after our parish church of Saint Maddern.

The area is rich in antiquities and the village is known for an annual Trafalgar Service commemorating the death of Vice Admiral Horatio Nelson.

This was started in the church on 27 October 1946 and follows a local tradition that his death was first announced on British soil in the Union Hotel in Penzance.
